Well…I’ve spent the last week and a half mostly in the south. I’m loosely including TX and FL in that category. Its been lovely. I sat down on a friends driveway the other day at 2am just feeling the thick warmth on my skin and was reminded of what I love down here. The Secadas were noisy as hell, doing their best to keep me awake. Little do they know that they actually were my little version of a white noise CD lulling me to some decent sleep. Foiled!!!
The run with Switchfoot was great. They are some sweet guys and a great live band. Athlete was on the bill as well, and they were fabulous. Great band, great guys. On the second to last night of tour we braved Bourbon St. in New Orleans and had some drinks. Lovely evening……..I hope we see them again soon.
The Eisley portion of the tour started a couple days ago, and its been a lot of fun so far. They’re a great band as well, and their family seems like a kind, loving group of folks. Very artful. Very creative. We have almost two months left of that tour. Its a nice change of pace having a female element to the tour. Its certainly brought a sense of calm which is certainly different than the high intensity/testosterone of many of the other tours we’ve done. The other bands on the bill are Vedera and The Envy Corps. Both bands are great, and seem like they’ll be fun people to get to know. Well….only 50 or so shows to go!
Ummmm….I snagged this from Weston’s (of Eisley) blog mainly because I think this picture is glorious and amazing.
For a moment, I thought Jon Secada was singing you to sleep, which would have been strange, but then again, I’ve never been on a tour.

Curses, that link didn’t work the way I thought it work.

that’s a weird picture. I love how much you enjoy being in the south! Preparation for our future lives, whenever we move back out there! I’m dreaming of the feeling of thick sticky air on my skin!

Steven. The sound of Cicadas (yes, I am correcting your spelling because it is almost like saying “I sure do love Geesus”… this is a matter of HOLINESS) is indeed one of the most precious in the repertoire of my life sounds. And feeling the air against my face, though it is something I not miss like cicadas, is a thought that brings me instantly home.
You are sorely missed here in Seattle. And thank you for loosely including Texas in your Southern comments.
Thank you Charis, for correcting him- although I am *really drawn to the “Geesus” spelling!
Anyway, going to sleep with our attic fan on and feeling so sticky and the loud buzz of the Cicadas both annoying me and soothing me to sleep. Soothe to sleep my love. Soothe to sleep. Mmmmm.
I remember going to be on the humid Arkansas nights (somehow that JUST doesn’t sound as romantic as a Georgia night or Carolina night, or, well, any other Southern state for that matter…
(wouldn’t it be weird if I actually talked like that??)

yes. it would. that made me think of Scrubs when Jordan was like “OOH sweetie, I didn’t realize you felt that way. I’ll call her and tell her not to come….” and then dies laughing and says “wouldn’t it be weird if I was really like that?”
=)
and then later she says “Perry isn’t coming? But, he’s my EVERYTHING” and then laughs again.
